Preceded by Jim Dickinson: The Man Behind the Console (dir. Robert Allen Parker & Nan Hackman / 15 min.) - Jim Dickinson (1941-2009) is a legendary American record producer and Memphis-based musician. In this short film, which features two of his last recorded interviews, Jim discusses how watching the Rolling Stones record 'Sticky Fingers' influenced his role as a future producer, how he taught his sons, Luther and Cody Dickinson of the North Mississippi Allstars, about the world of music, and how he values his work as a producer with Alex Chilton on Big Star's underground classic 'Third' album. Also Memphis musicians such as Amy Lavere, William Lee Ellis, and Jimmy Crosthwait discuss the impact of Jim's presence as a record producer. One of Jim's last performances at Otherlands Coffee Bar in Memphis from April of 2008 is featured throughout the short film.
